OK - um... I don't know what they have turned dance into, but "dance" is no long the correct word for it. A series of tricks is what it looks like. The only couple who had what I think of as a dance was Navarro and Bommentre - who got a standing ovation by the way - and it was NOT, as Susie stated, because everyone else had fallen - it was beacause it was a dance- and good ice dance was a relief from the Cirque du Soleil on ice dance has become. Of the folks out there doing whatever it is code of points has demanded - I could see that Tanith and Ben did stuff faster and more intricately and closer together. I did not think Matthews and Zavozin looked good at all in the free dance. They were rough and stumbly - I thought Tiffany and Sergey looked smoother and faster and had as much difficulty. Silverstien and O'Meara looked strong as well, but I thought Tiffany and Sergey were smoother - but given that all of the folks doing the high code of point levels look herky-jerky to me it probably is a bad thing to look smooth and flowing. From now on I am only going to compulsary dances. Peh. Oh - I liked Wester and Barabtsev's dance as well. That integrated the tricks better than the rest of them and was fun to watch.I only took photos of the final flight.
