Several of the young men appear to have chosen music that is all drums. Or mostly drums. I believe that we can blame this on Elvis Stojko. Please. The audience is full of tired people who don't get real food or any sleep for a week. We come into the event with a headache. Be kind.Please.

There seemed to be more actual music being used in the free skate. That was nice. I think that Jr. men trying to do their free skate early in the morning is not such a good idea.

Now I will become Andy Rooney: Why is it that the Free Skate has become such a dull program? So many folks have a program that is just skating in a circle and trying a jump over and over again. I know. I know. They need to land a bunch of jumps to win, so they need to try to land a WHOLE BUNCH to increase their odds. But boy oh boy. It is more like watching tennis than skating. Look right. Look left. look right. look left. My neck is getting worn out.

Jason Wong

Latino was the music. Swung out of the 3 lutz landing. 3 loop-2toe. Popped the axel. Footwork pass seemed a little light. Nicely choreographed pice for Jason. (Mark Mitchell says the program). he did a good job at expressing it.

The Land of Make Believe. Another great job of Choreography by Mark Mitchell. Fun program. stepped out of a triple. 3 loop. popped lutz. 3 flip. stumble on toepick. 3 loop. popped lutz. 2 axel. 3 sal.

Mauro Bruni

Romeo and Juliet. Oh what a lovely skater. Uses his hands so well. And has a great back. Expresses his music so well. I love watching Mauro skate. Fell on the 3 toe after the 3 flip in his combo. Did the 3 lutz. His first jump is the 2 axel.

Miss Saigon. Great Choreography and style.Very Paul Wylie. 3 lutz (2 footed?) 2 flip. 3 toe (fall) 3 loop 3 sal. 3 flip (fall) 1 axel. 2 axel.

Adam Aronowitz

American Beauty. 3 flip-2 toe. Fell on 2 axel. Landed 3 lutz forward.Wobbled on entrance to the camel. Holds a nice tension throughout the program. Good footwork.

Rach. 3 flip-2toe. 3 lutz...some 1/2 jump - 2 axel. popped the loop. 3 lutz. 3 sal. 3 flip. 2 toe. A lot of character and style in this skate. Very fun to watch.

Nathan Evancho

Music was "Relax". And Even should definitely do just that. His shoulders were soooo high and tight going into the first jump that everyone around me noticed it. Poor thing. He did indeed fall on that jump and had several more unsuccessful elements. I feel this is 100% a case of nerves. His nerves were so on edge my shoulders ached for him. I sympathize very much.

King of Swing, Maddest Kind. 2 lutz. 3 toe. fell on loop. 3 lutz fall. 2 axel. 3 flip - landed with feet crossed and fell.

Jordan Brauninger

Fire by Kennedy. Skated first. Skated clean. Help on to the lead all afternoon. # flip-3 toe. 2 axel. 3 lutz. Camel was slow. Combo spin travelled. A lit of miming grabbing stuff out of the air. Daniel theorized "fireflies". Ok. He is a little less upright and aggressive and ... total package than some of the other boys, but he did what he needed to do and he did them cleanly. And here is is.

Music in the South Overature - Elgar. 3 flip. 3 lutz-2 toe. 3 loop-2loop. 3 sal. 3 flip-1/2 jump-2 sal. 3 lutz. 2 axel. Well. He certainly can jump. Not a lot in between choreographically yet.

Wesley Campbell

OH MY. I loved this program. I want video of this program. It was beautiful. Bill Fauver was the chor. Laura Sanders is the coach (Nashville). The music is listed as "Field of the Heat" - but I wonder if that shouldn't be "Heart". Anyway this was a lyrical smooth piece that Wesley performed with a lovely smile on his face. So nice to watch. Fell on 3 lutz. stepped out of 3 flip - did 2 toe. I didn't write down the axel but I assume it was there somewhere.

Tennessee, War, Pearl Harbor. Well, Wesley is one of the more expressive and artistic skaters, but the nature of the free skate really hemmed him in. 3 loop. fell on axel attempt (almost looked like a triple). Fell on 3 lutz. 3 toe. hand down on 3 sal. 3 lutz.

Ben Woolwine

Cirque (one of the drummy pieces). Landed the 3 lutz very forward. fell on 3 flip. 2 axel. Had a very intricate 2 directional complex footwork pass. Has some trouble with the spins. Didn't hold the tension throughout the program...but overall a nice skate.

Rach #2. Ben looked a little startled during this skate - like he was surprised to have an audience at times. I wasn't organized enough to get my notes togerther for Ben as he was the first skater, but he had at least two falls, put his hand down after the lutz and I believe his combo was...messy. I know he had the triple toe.

Dustin Brinsmade

Tocatta and Fugue. Tall boy and makes good use of his height. Great spinner. fell on 3 flip??? 2axel. 3 lutz. Enjoyable program. Looks like the footwork may have almost gotten away form him, but he didn't lose it.

Interview with a Vampire, Dracula, Red Violin. 3 FLip? 2 lutz. 3 toe-2 toe. 2 sal. a triple. 2 axel. 3 sal. 1 axel. Was skating slowly this morning. Definitely was trying to convey the Vampire thing.

Dennis Phan

Pearl Harbor. Popped the axel. 3flip-3 toe (stepped out). 3 lutz. spin was a bit slow. He had to "reset" his camel after the 3 turn. Fast and dramatic perfromance. Lovely skated to watch. Oy - that axel.

3 Musketeers. One of the more complete programs and expressed well. 2 axel. 3 lutz. 3 flip-2 toe. 3 loop-3loop (stepped out) 3 lutz-2 toe. 3 toe. 3 sal.

Christopher Toland

Not sure what the music is. 3 flip-2 toe. 2 axel. Little short of rotation on the 3 luzt - stepped out. Chris was one of the boys who looked like they had lutz trouble partially due to the size of the rink. It seemed pretty short. Good skate overall. Fast and very well presented. Nice choreography. (Russ Witherby)

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. 3 toe-2toe. pop lutz. 3 loop. 3 flip. 3 toe. 2 axel. 3 lutz. 3 sal. Hesitated going into his camel spin. A nice even performance with good speed.

Luis Hernandez

Cirque. Lovely posture and spinns and fast skating and dramatic choreography... but he stepped out of the 3 loop on his combo before doing the 2 toe. and then he did the 2 axel...but popped the lutz. Great footwork pass and excellent spins couldn't save him.

Don Juan De Marco. 3 loop (step out) 2 lutz-2 toe. 3 toe. 2 flip. 2 axel (fall). 2 sal. 3 toe. Luis skates very fast and has nice conviction with his movements. And excellent spins. This just wasn't his year technically.

Pierre Balian

Albinoni Adagio. Hand down on the 3 axel. skidded out of the 3 lutz. 2 axel. camel was a bit slow. stumbled in the footwork. Very dramatic skate with a lot of interesting choreography.

Egmont. Turned out of the 3 axel. popped a ...flip? lutz?? 3 sal. 2 loop. 3 toe - 2 toe. There were more elements, but I had a camera issue and stopped taking notes.
